Chor Leong |

Chor
Leong represented Singapore at the 1980 Philip C. Jessup International
Law Moot Court Competition in Washington D.C. where he and his
team-mate emerged as world runners-up after winning the championship
of the International Division. Chor Leong himself won the Best
Oralist award in the Jessup Cup Final Round.
Following
his pupillage at Lee & Lee, Chor Leong began his legal career
in 1981. In 1985, he established his own law firm, Chia Chor
Leong & Co, and operated it for 17 years before merging
his practice with that of CitiLegal LLC in 2002.
Chor
Leong is now a director of CitiLegal LLC, heading the Litigation
and Dispute Resolution practice group. |

Since
1987, Chor Leong has served as a member and later as an Alternate
Chairman of the Criminal Law Advisory Committee of the Ministry
of Home Affairs, hearing cases under the Criminal Law (Temporary
Provisions) Act and making recommendations to the President
of Singapore. At the Investiture of the 2000 National Day Awards,
Chor Leong was awarded the Pingat Bakti Masyarakat (Public Service
Medal) in recognition of his contribution to public service.
Chor
Leong also serves as a member of the TRACE Advisory Council
for Singapore.
Chor
Leong is also a Commissioner for Oaths and a Notary Public. |

Chor
Leong specialises in civil and commercial litigation, arbitration
and alternative dispute resolution, and has represented clients
not only in Singapore but also in Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan,
Pakistan, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
He has extensive experience in formulating and advising on strategies
and measures for the pre-emption of disputes, the enhancement
of the client's legal position in anticipation of dispute, and
for prosecuting and/or defending claims in disputes which have
arisen.
As
a litigator, Chor Leong's main areas of expertise are in contract
law, commercial transactions, company law, construction law
and debt recovery. |

He
has acted for clients in a broad spectrum of matters, including
disputes arising out of the sale and purchase of goods/shares/assets
and businesses, discharge of directors' duties, joint-ventures,
technology transfer and licensing agreements, product distributorship
agreements, financial transactions, guarantees, corporate insolvency,
employment, engineering and architectural services, civil engineering
projects, building contracts and development projects.
Chor
Leong has also acted for clients in structuring, negotiating
and drafting contracts relating to venture-capital investments,
sale and purchase of shares and assets, joint-ventures, technology
transfer and licensing, franchises and product distribution. |
